Control who submits downloads and listings
Where: Admin → Members → Accounts → Submission permissions
Before you start
Resolution order is individual member rule, then group rule, then board default. Forum-category posting permissions do not replace resource submission policy. Each area has a separate policy, so allowing Downloads does not automatically authorise Marketplace publishing.
Step by step
- Read the Board defaults for Downloads, Marketplace and Creator submissions; follow the linked area settings to change a default.
- Choose a group and set its area-specific rule and Needs review state, or leave it Inherit.
- Use a member’s Edit control for an individual exception; leave Inherit to remove the exception.
- Save the relevant form and test a submission with that member.
Settings and behaviour
Resolution order is individual member rule, then group rule, then board default. Forum-category posting permissions do not replace resource submission policy. Each area has a separate policy, so allowing Downloads does not automatically authorise Marketplace publishing.
“Inherit” clears that layer’s exception. Approval governs publication; the submitter/staff seeing their held resource is not proof that everybody can see it.
Check the result
Try an ordinary permitted member, a denied member and a member with an explicit exception. Confirm whether the listing waits for review in each case.
Common questions and troubleshooting
Changed group but member unaffected: inspect its individual override. Downloads works but Marketplace does not: compare both area policies and addon availability.
