Configure board identity, usernames and SEO
Where: Admin → System → Settings
Before you start
Settings changes affect the board, not this Grav site. Username limits apply on creation/change. Existing unchanged handles are not truncated or forcibly renamed. The database’s 80-code-point ceiling is checked separately from the displayed character count; combined Unicode characters can count differently depending on intl support.
Step by step
- Set Site name and Tagline.
- Choose Threads per page (5–100) and tag limits per post/resource (1–30).
- Set username minimum/maximum, with minimum no greater than maximum; save.
- Set SEO title, description, keywords, OG image, favicon and canonical forum address.
- Choose search-engine indexing policy, Save settings and inspect a public page.
Settings and behaviour
Settings changes affect the board, not this Grav site. Username limits apply on creation/change. Existing unchanged handles are not truncated or forcibly renamed. The database’s 80-code-point ceiling is checked separately from the displayed character count; combined Unicode characters can count differently depending on intl support.
Threads per page controls forum/search pagination, not the dashboard widget count. Canonical URL should be the final public forum URL; feeds, sitemap and provider callbacks depend on a correct absolute address. Disabling indexing writes a robots exclusion; it is not authentication and does not immediately remove old search results.
Check the result
Inspect title/meta/canonical, pagination and a new registration with a valid and overlong username.
Common questions and troubleshooting
Unchanged long member fails: report the exact release and field; legacy unchanged names are meant to remain valid. Provider callback relative/wrong: correct Canonical URL. Widget count unchanged: use Statistics/dashboard settings.
