Configure trust levels and rate limits

Before you start
TL0–TL4 derive from replies, topics, likes received and account age. A manual grant is a floor: it cannot lower a level already earned. Category requirements can tighten posting/link access and the hourly cap. This is independent of an account’s staff role and a group’s category access.
Step by step
- Enable/disable Trust levels and Rate limiting intentionally.
- Set Posts per hour, New account window in hours and Posts in that window; save.
- Review What each rung unlocks for the installed release.
- Use Recompute every member after policy/data changes.
- Set a member’s manual rung when appointing a leader, or Derived only to remove that floor.

Check a new account and an established member. Confirm the displayed derived/manual level matches the intended rules and stricter new-account cap.
Common questions and troubleshooting
Manual downgrade ineffective: earned level still wins. Can read but not start topics: check category trust/reply prerequisites as well as group permissions.
