Clear one visitor and configure repeat-offender escalation

Where: Protection → Temporary blocks / Repeat offenders

Steps

1. Find the canonical visitor address in blocks/events.
2. Use Clear this visitor to remove its temporary block and counter without erasing other visitors or history.
3. Review any permanent matching rule separately.
4. If enabling repeat escalation set the threshold, period and duration carefully in Monitor first.
5. Enable permanent promotion only with a deliberate policy and a review/removal process.

Check the result

A targeted release is distinct from resetting everyone. Repeat episodes and permanent rules can continue to matter after one temporary block is cleared.

If it does not work

Check rule precedence and any newly generated activity. Do not promise a CAPTCHA pass or crawler identity clears existing blocks.
