How to update safely

  1. Back up the database and the entire forum directory. Keep the backup outside the public web directory.
  2. Record the installed version and edition. Download the updater whose from version exactly matches this installation.
  3. Open Admin → System → Package Manager. Upload the updater and review its source/target versions, hashes and file plan.
  4. Apply only when the manager accepts the baseline. A mismatch is a reason to obtain the matching package, not bypass the check.
  5. Follow any database upgrade instruction. The manual full-file upgrade route uses Admin → System & upgrades → Run database upgrade after the correct replacement files are in place.
  6. Compare the board version and database “last upgraded by” value, then test sign-in, a topic, an upload and a download.

For beta.156e, a beta.155x board needs the 155x-to-156e updater. A 156d board needs 156d-to-156e. Save the package’s handoff and checksum with the backup.
