Export your data or close your account

Where: Settings → Your data / Close your account

Before you start

Closure is irreversible: profile identifiers/pictures/links are cleared; bookmarks, followed threads and drafts are deleted; passkeys and remembered devices are revoked. Topics/posts remain attributed to Deleted member to preserve conversation continuity. Your own data export does not include other people’s private data.

Step by step

  1. Use the data download control to save your own JSON export privately.
  2. Read the complete closure notice before proceeding.
  3. If closing, enter your current password and exactly your username, then confirm Close my account.

Check the result

Reload and confirm the saved result using the same account. For private or paid content, also check the intended audience without sharing your session.

Common questions and troubleshooting

Want a temporary break: do not use permanent closure as a logout button. Confirmation fails: use your exact current username and password. Keep the export somewhere private.
