Rich text toolbar reference
Select the text to change first. Formatting affects the selection or the text you type next.
| Controls | Use |
|---|---|
| Undo / Redo | Reverse or reapply recent editor operations. |
| Bold / Italic / Underline / Strikethrough | Emphasise or mark selected words. Toggle an active format to stop using it. |
| Subscript / Superscript | Lower/raise selected characters. |
| Alignment | Align a paragraph left, centre, right or justified. |
| Bulleted / Numbered list | Structure items; Indent/Outdent changes their level. |
| Block / font / size selectors | Choose the supported paragraph/heading/font presentation. |
| Link / unlink controls | Apply or remove a destination from selected text. Use the correct complete web address. |
| Clear formatting | Select the affected phrase and clear formatting to remove unwanted inline styling. Inspect the saved output if pasted markup contains nested styles. |
| Text colour / Highlight | Foreground colour and background highlight are separate. Select the phrase and change the intended control; check readability in light/dark modes. |
| Quote / code block | Separate quoted writing and code from ordinary paragraphs. |
| Rule / emoji / image / attachment | Insert the supported element; uploaded files still follow permissions/type/size checks. |
| HTML | Inspect/edit allowed markup; unsafe markup is filtered on save. |
Remove an unwanted highlight
Select the complete highlighted phrase and use Clear formatting. This can clear other inline formatting too; reapply the desired bold/colour afterward. If the saved rendering differs, report the exact composer, theme/version and a minimal example rather than adding more nested formatting.
Text colour appears unchanged
Select the actual text rather than only the surrounding paragraph. Check whether the foreground colour is being overridden by pasted nested markup or the active theme. The highlight swatch changes the background, not the letters. Compare the saved post in the default theme before reporting a theme-specific issue.
Sticky toolbar
The source groups the formatting bars into the sticky editor frame. A theme or constrained parent can affect its position. Include the editor location, viewport and theme in a report if the toolbar leaves the visible area.
