Install, upgrade and license addons

Where: Admin → System → Appearance → Addons & webhooks

Before you start

Package upload is a review before activation. The installer rejects unsafe archive paths, invalid keys, oversized packages (8 MB package cap in this build) and unsupported requires declarations. An older package is permitted only through the rollback path. Settings survive while their option IDs still exist; new options use their defaults.

Step by step

  1. Open Installed add-ons and Details to inspect a package’s key, version, options and settings link.
  2. Use Upload / upgrade with a ZIP whose root contains addon.json; Review this package, then confirm.
  3. For a commercial package enter the purchased licence under Licences before enabling it.
  4. Open the package’s canonical Settings screen and configure its declared controls.
  5. Use Switch off for a reversible disable; review Uninstall separately.

Settings and behaviour

Package upload is a review before activation. The installer rejects unsafe archive paths, invalid keys, oversized packages (8 MB package cap in this build) and unsupported requires declarations. An older package is permitted only through the rollback path. Settings survive while their option IDs still exist; new options use their defaults.

Disabling hides package pages/assets/menu entries without deleting data. Uninstall removes its registration, and package-specific cleanup may differ—keep a backup and read its instructions. The catalogue offers free packages to download; commercial packages should offer purchase, not public bytes. A vendor master licence is for the vendor; customers normally use the purchased package entitlement. Do not attempt to manufacture a key.

Common questions and troubleshooting

No addon.json: choose the inner installable ZIP, not a complete handoff/archive with an enclosing folder. Missing settings: package may be disabled/unlicensed or have no options. Duplicate-package notice: compare folders/backups before removing an unwanted copy.
