Import RSS items into forum topics
Where: Admin → System → Communications → Feed importer
Before you start
Feed author mode creates credited author accounts with random passwords and @rss.invalid addresses; nothing is mailed to them. A named existing member must already exist; a named generated identity is created on first import. A zero excerpt limit keeps the whole body.
Step by step
- Add a feed name and full public http(s) feed URL.
- Choose destination category, posting identity/account, interval, excerpt length, link target and maximum items per run.
- Choose Add feed and import it now, or save and Run now. Inspect the new topics and run result.
- Schedule the command printed by this page through Panelica Cron Jobs, normally once per minute; each feed still honours its own interval.
- Allowlist an internal feed host only when you intentionally trust that internal source.

Every redirect is checked against private/reserved networks. Internal allowlisting exempts only named hosts (optionally with port), not every private address. Byte/time/redirect limits remain. The CLI schedule is required for unattended imports; browser Run now is a manual test.

Common questions and troubleshooting
Private feed refused: deliberate SSRF protection; use a narrowly scoped host allowlist only for a trusted source. No automatic topics: inspect the scheduled task and the feed’s own interval. Wrong identity: change posting mode before the next run.
